Is Ghana set to host Africa’s first AI conference in November?

Ghana is preparing to host the first Africa Artificial Intelligence Conference, organized by the Africa Education Trust Fund, at the Accra International Conference Centre from November 5 to 6, 2025. The event aims to explore the responsible use of AI to drive Africa’s digital and socio-economic transformation under the theme “AI for Africa: Unlocking Opportunities for Education, Innovation, and Sustainable Development.” Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Chairman of AETF, highlighted the conference as a platform for dialogue among policymakers, technologists, and educators, focusing on AI in national strategies, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital skills. He emphasized the importance of AI mastery for Africa’s progress and the role of youth in leveraging AI’s potential. Senior Advisor Judson Wendle Addy noted Ghana’s proactive stance in the digital revolution, with significant investments in AI and ICT. He urged educational institutions and businesses to adopt AI to enhance efficiency and competitiveness, stressing Africa’s need to define its role in the AI era through innovation and collaboration.
