How is China advancing in tech self-reliance at the Shenzhen semiconductor expo?

At the recent semiconductor expo in Shenzhen, over 600 Chinese tech companies showcased their advancements in tech self-reliance. SiCarrier, supported by the Shenzhen municipal government, unveiled a range of innovative products, including optical inspection systems and thin-film deposition machines. A highlight was Longsight Technologies’ launch of a 90-gigahertz ultra-high-speed oscilloscope, crucial for developing cutting-edge semiconductor processes. This marks a significant leap from the typical 8 to 18GHz oscilloscopes previously supplied by Chinese firms. The event also featured the debut of new electronic design automation software by Qiyunfang, another SiCarrier subsidiary. These developments underscore China’s growing capability in producing advanced semiconductor equipment, reducing reliance on imports that require US export licenses.
