A 16-year-old schoolgirl from Assam, Huma Abia Kanta, has made a remarkable impact on the international stage with her machine learning research. As a student at Royal Global School in Guwahati, she presented her groundbreaking work at a prestigious AI and machine learning conference in Azerbaijan. Her study, ‘ML-Based Prediction of Phycocyanin Purity’, highlights a significant advancement in predicting pigment purity using sophisticated machine learning models. This innovative approach shows a mean absolute error of just 0.058, surpassing traditional methods and paving the way for progress in sustainable bio-resource industries. Among the youngest Indians to showcase at this level, Huma’s research is set to be published in top international journals. She is also a leader in educational technology, having founded ‘desicodes’ and participated in culturally important projects in her region.
