Early-stage technology companies have just four days left to apply for Cohort 9 of Luminate NY, the largest global business accelerator focused on optics, photonics, and imaging technologies. Applications close at 11:59 PM EST on January 12, 2026, offering founders a chance to secure funding to transition from laboratory innovation to global commercialization.
Participants in the six-month program receive an initial $100,000 investment, with the opportunity to compete for a share of $2 million in follow-on funding from Empire State Developmentās Finger Lakes Forward Upstate Revitalization Initiative.
Luminate NY, managed by NextCorps, serves as a global hub for sectors like Quantum Computing, Autonomous Vehicles, Climate Tech, MedTech, and Defense. The program’s hybrid model includes remote participation and strategic in-person sessions in Rochester, NY, connecting founders with the region’s top-tier OPI ecosystem.
The accelerator offers dual-program access through a partnership with Silicon Catalyst for semiconductor startups and supports U.S. market expansion through PhotonDelta. Participants benefit from expert mentorship, manufacturing roadmap development, and introductions to early-adopter customers.
Luminate NY will select 10 promising companies for Cohort 9, beginning in April 2026. Applicants must have at least two full-time employees, be incorporated, possess a proven core technology, and commit to conducting part of their business operations in the Finger Lakes region for 18 months if awarded follow-on funding.
The application deadline is January 12, 2026, and submissions can be made at luminate.org/apply.
