On New Year’s Eve in Rajasthan, a significant security concern emerged when police in Tonk arrested two men and confiscated a substantial amount of explosives from their vehicle. Following specific intelligence, the District Special Team stopped a car in the Baroni area and discovered nearly 150 kilograms of ammonium nitrate concealed in urea fertiliser sacks. The suspects, Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi from Bundi district, were reportedly transporting the explosives from Bundi to Tonk for further distribution. In addition to the ammonium nitrate, authorities seized approximately 200 cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire totaling around 1,100 meters. The vehicle used for the transport was also impounded. Police are investigating the origin and intended use of the explosives, probing potential links to illegal activities. Ammonium nitrate, while commonly used as a fertiliser, has been associated with high-grade explosives, raising alarms due to its recent use in a deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. The investigation is ongoing, with officials assuring that all possible angles are being explored to ensure public safety.
