Samsung is gearing up for a significant shift with its upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, the new flagship of the S26 series. Industry insiders from South Korea suggest that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will occur at the end of February 2026, likely around February 25, with sales expected to begin in early March. This marks a departure from the January launches of previous Galaxy S models, attributed to the need for more time to perfect the 2nm chipset production and finalize hardware for different regions.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to undergo a complete design overhaul, moving away from flat, sharp corners to rounded edges for better grip. The device is expected to be slimmer at around 7.9mm and feature a larger 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, boasting a maximum brightness of nearly 3,000 nits. A new “Flex Magic Pixel” anti-privacy layer may also be included. The back of the phone will reportedly see a change with a single, pill-shaped camera housing replacing separate camera circles.
Globally, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, promising enhanced CPU performance and AI capabilities, particularly for on-device Galaxy AI applications. The device is also expected to support Qi2 magnetic wireless charging and satellite-based communication. The battery is rumored to be between 5,000mAh and 5,200mAh, with 60W wired charging, an upgrade from the current 45W.
Camera advancements include a 200MP main sensor with a wider f/1.4 aperture for improved low-light photography, alongside a 50MP ultra-wide and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to launch with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16, featuring new AI-driven capabilities such as predictive “Now nudges” and enhanced text-to-image editing tools.
With these updates, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is poised to stand out in 2026, offering notable improvements in design, charging, and AI functionalities.
