Is Google Assistant getting an extension on Galaxy phones?

In 2023, Google introduced Gemini as a successor to Google Assistant, with plans to implement this change on mobile devices, including Galaxy phones, by the end of the year. However, this transition has been postponed. Google now intends to replace Google Assistant with Gemini in 2026, as announced recently. Anish K, the Community Manager of the Gemini Apps Team at Google, explained that the delay is to ensure a smooth transition. The company will continue working on the migration process and will provide further updates in the coming months. As the complete switch is not scheduled until the end of 2026, users can expect to continue using Google Assistant on their Galaxy phones and tablets for the time being. Notably, Google Assistant has already been removed from Samsung TVs that previously supported it.
