Can LG TV users now remove the unwanted Copilot app?

LG has announced that it will allow users to delete the Microsoft Copilot shortcut that was installed on its newer TVs, following reports of the unremovable icon. This decision comes after a user highlighted the issue on a popular subreddit, sparking widespread frustration over the increasing presence of AI features. Initially introduced as part of a collaboration between LG and Samsung to integrate Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant, the shortcut was added during a webOS update. LG clarified that the icon is merely a shortcut to the Copilot web app, which opens in the TV’s browser, and not an embedded application. The company emphasized that features like microphone input require explicit user consent. While LG has committed to allowing the deletion of the icon, no specific timeline has been provided yet.
