OpenAI has unveiled new features for ChatGPT, enhancing its capabilities with Apple Music integration and improved image generation. While ChatGPT has supported app integrations since earlier this year, it will soon extend its functionality to work with Apple Music. This integration will enable ChatGPT to offer music recommendations and create playlists based on user listening history and suggestions. Users will be able to click on these recommendations to open them directly in the Apple Music app on both desktop and iOS devices. Although not yet available, this feature is anticipated to launch soon.
In addition to music integration, ChatGPT’s image generation capabilities have been significantly upgraded. The new ChatGPT Images can generate images four times faster and make precise edits while preserving essential details. The updated model excels in realistic image creation, including adding, subtracting, combining, blending, and transposing elements. It also improves text addition and layout alteration, following user instructions more reliably than before.
However, the update has seen a regression in generating specific art styles like anime and altering images with numerous people. OpenAI suggests using preset filters to address these issues, and the previous version of the image generator remains accessible.
The enhanced ChatGPT Images experience, featuring dozens of preset styles and prompts, is now available on both the mobile app and the web. This update positions ChatGPT to better compete with Google’s Nano Banana image generator. Notably, a previous mention of Apple Music integration was removed from a Substack post, leaving questions about whether it was incorrect or if OpenAI lacked authorization to announce the partnership.
