How is ‘All My Anecdotes’ planning to expand its virtual idol group OWIS with new funding?

South Korean virtual entertainment company ‘All My Anecdotes’ (AMA) has successfully secured approximately $4.86 million in seed funding, led by SBVA with contributions from Korea Investment Partners, Reventures, Aurora World, and Uncore. Co-founded by Jay Kim, a seasoned former Warner Music executive, and Haein Lee, creative director of KISS OF LIFE, AMA is poised to accelerate the growth of its debut virtual idol group, OWIS. The group’s first album, MUSEUM, has already garnered significant attention, with its title track’s music video amassing over 6 million views in just a week.

The newly acquired funds will be directed towards enhancing OWIS’s development, boosting virtual IP-based content production, and laying the groundwork for technological, marketing, and global expansion efforts. AMA is committed to refining its virtual entertainment business model, focusing on artist development, content production, fan engagement, and IP commercialization. In addition, the company is advancing AI-powered motion capture technology for virtual idol production.

A strategic partnership with Aurora World is expected to broaden OWIS’s intellectual property into character merchandise and licensing opportunities, utilizing Aurora World’s extensive global distribution network. AMA also plans to expand the OWIS fanbase through immersive worldbuilding content, interactive live events, and pop-up stores.

Nayoung Jeong, Senior Investment Manager at SBVA, highlighted the growing interest in virtual idols as a new trend in K-pop, praising OWIS for its musical quality and live performances. Jay Kim, CEO of AMA, emphasized the significance of this investment as a validation of the virtual entertainment business model’s potential and scalability, aiming to evolve into a next-generation entertainment company that seamlessly integrates story, technology, content, and brand.
