What are the new features in iOS 26.5?

iOS 26.5 is now available after six weeks of beta testing, introducing several new features and changes for iPhone users. Among the highlights are new wallpapers from Apple’s 2026 Pride collection, offering customizable color combinations to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Apple Maps sees the introduction of a Suggested Places feature, with ads expected to follow later this summer. RCS messaging now supports end-to-end encryption, rolling out gradually and enabled by default. Additionally, the App Store introduces a new billing option for monthly subscriptions with a 12-month commitment, although this is not available in the United States or Singapore. For EU users, there’s enhanced support for Live Activities and third-party accessories. Magic pairing has been simplified for Apple’s Magic Keyboard, Trackpad, and Mouse, which now remain connected via Bluetooth after being unplugged. Other updates include a new Inuktitut keyboard layout, potential new features for Apple Books, and improved data transfer options when switching to Android. Lastly, iOS 26.5 addresses over 50 security issues, ensuring a more secure experience for users. As Apple shifts focus to iOS 27, set to be announced at the upcoming WWDC, users are encouraged to update to the latest version for the best performance and security.
