Has Startup Balcony Raised $12.7M in Seed Funding?

Balcony, a proptech startup based in Hoboken, New Jersey, has successfully raised $12.7 million in a seed funding round led by Blockchange Ventures, with contributions from Ava Labs, Blizzard Fund, and angel investors. This brings the company’s total funding to $14 million. The investment will be utilized to advance Balcony’s development of digital infrastructure for real estate data across municipal and state levels, aiming to replace outdated paper-based systems with secure electronic solutions. The platform, known as Keystone, uses artificial intelligence to organize and index property data, facilitating faster and less risky transactions for title insurers, mortgage lenders, and capital market professionals. Currently, Keystone assists U.S. government agencies in managing over $400 billion in property value. Balcony’s recent contract with Bergen County, New Jersey, will digitize 370,000 property parcels, enhancing property security and monitoring foreign land purchases. This initiative aligns with national security concerns, as exemplified by a pilot project with the U.S. Department of Treasury that identified foreign ownership linked to the Chinese Communist Party. Investors like Blockchange Ventures see Balcony’s platform as pivotal in modernizing the real estate sector and safeguarding against fraud and unauthorized foreign ownership.
