Did a startup just secure $3M to boost medical robotics?

Health-tech startup Cobionix has raised $3 million to advance the commercialization of its autonomous medical robot, CODI®, across North American and UK healthcare systems. Founded in 2021 by Waterloo Engineering alumni Nima Zamani and Dr. Tim Lasswell, along with John Van Leeuwen, Cobionix focuses on AI-driven solutions to enhance healthcare accessibility. The funding round was led by TitletownTech, a venture capital firm with expertise in digital health and other sectors. Cobionix’s relationship with TitletownTech began when the firm recognized the potential of the startup’s platform to address healthcare challenges and optimize patient care. Pilot programs are currently underway in Canada, the U.S., and the UK, with partners like the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the NHS. The new investment will support clinical validation and facilitate CODI®’s entry into U.S. healthcare markets. CODI® is a versatile robot capable of performing medical procedures such as diagnostic ultrasound, with features allowing for quick tool changes and software updates, making it adaptable to various clinical needs.
