Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, dubbed the “iPhone Ultra,” is set to launch in September with advanced vapor chamber cooling technology, despite facing production challenges. The device’s manufacturing process is experiencing pressure, but the original launch schedule is expected to hold. The iPhone Ultra will reportedly boast impressive thermal performance, a first for a foldable iPhone, thanks to Apple’s commitment to thermal engineering.
The foldable design may lead to the absence of several features found in the iPhone 17 Pro, such as Face ID, a telephoto camera, MagSafe, the Action Button, and a physical SIM card slot, due to its slim 4.5mm profile. Unlike the iPhone Air, which lacks vapor chamber cooling, the iPhone Ultra will incorporate this technology, enhancing its thermal management.
Despite reports of production difficulties, including issues with surface-mount technology and hinge quality, the launch timeline for the iPhone Ultra remains on track. The device is expected to feature a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch cover display, the A20 chip, the C2 modem, and Touch ID, with a starting price around $2,000. The iPhone Ultra is anticipated to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
