Harmonic AI, an artificial intelligence start-up co-founded by Robinhood Markets CEO Vlad Tenev, has secured $100 million in a Series B funding round. This investment aims to address the challenge of mathematics in AI models. The funding round was led by Kleiner Perkins, with contributions from Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures, and Paradigm, valuing the start-up at $875 million. Although Tenev holds a non-operational role as executive chairman, the company is helmed by CEO Tudor Achim, known for his previous leadership at autonomous driving start-up Helm.ai. Founded in 2023 and based in Palo Alto, California, Harmonic AI strives to develop AI systems capable of solving complex mathematical problems, aspiring to create what they call mathematical superintelligence. Their flagship AI model, Aristotle, is set to be released to researchers and the public later this year. The immediate objective is to surpass human capabilities in solving mathematical problems, with a long-term vision of tackling significant unsolved issues in mathematics, physics, and computer science.
