iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 introduce a rebranded feature called Connectivity Assist, designed to enhance internet connectivity on iPhones. Located in the Wi-Fi settings, this feature allows the use of cellular data alongside Wi-Fi for a more stable connection. Previously known as Wi-Fi Assist, it’s unclear if the rebranding includes functional changes. On older versions, Wi-Fi Assist switched to cellular data when Wi-Fi was weak. Some beta testers suggest that Connectivity Assist may now combine Wi-Fi and cellular data when activated. Additionally, users have reported receiving “Intelligent Connectivity” notifications, indicating possibly more proactive engagement of the feature. Apple has also highlighted improved network transitions in these updates, promising seamless switching between Wi-Fi and cellular networks for continuous connectivity during activities like navigation or video calls.
