Novo Nordisk has experienced a cybersecurity breach involving unauthorized access to personal data of some clinical trial participants. The extent of the breach is still unclear, but the company assures that only a limited amount of information, such as sex, year of birth, biomarkers, lifestyle factors, and anonymized patient IDs, was affected. Novo Nordisk emphasizes that the data breach should not allow third parties to identify individuals directly. Nonetheless, the company advises trial participants to remain vigilant and report any unusual occurrences potentially linked to the breach. In response, Novo Nordisk has launched an investigation with cybersecurity experts and temporarily deactivated certain internal systems, although it did not specify which ones. Meanwhile, Novo Nordisk has been making strides in the pharmaceutical market, particularly with the success of its oral obesity medication, Wegovy, which has seen rapid uptake in the U.S. market. Despite previous setbacks in the GLP-1 market, the company is now exceeding expectations with significant sales growth.
