In the latest iOS 27 Beta 2 update, Apple has introduced the ability to reply to specific messages in RCS conversations with Android users, mirroring the functionality seen in iMessage. Users can now long press on a message to access the reply option. Additionally, iOS 27 improves the display of tapback and reaction emojis on images and videos, showing the emoji directly on the media rather than using text descriptors as in iOS 26. Since the introduction of RCS support in iOS 18, Apple has progressively enhanced its features, including encryption added in iOS 26.5 for messages between iPhone and Android devices. For the new reply threading feature to function, both parties must have compatible smartphones and carriers. Currently available to developers, iOS 27 is set for a public beta release in July, with a full launch anticipated in September.
