Kuala Lumpur is facing a pressing need to accelerate the enhancement of its technological capabilities to ensure the security and resilience of its digital infrastructure, according to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. As technology rapidly advances, including developments in next-generation artificial intelligence, Malaysia must be prepared to confront an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape. Following a meeting of the National Cyber Security Committee chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Ahmad Zahid emphasized the importance of safeguarding data and strengthening local tech capabilities. He also highlighted that cybersecurity now extends beyond technology issues, impacting national security, public confidence, and the future of Malaysia’s digital economy. The government remains committed to bolstering the country’s cybersecurity ecosystem to maintain competitiveness and reliability in the digital era, ensuring readiness to tackle emerging challenges.
