In the upcoming iOS 27 update, currently in beta, Apple has introduced notable changes to the iPhone’s Camera app, including a new Siri mode. This mode, accessible by swiping through the mode carousel, utilizes Visual Intelligence to recognize objects within the frame, offering information on plants, animals, food, and more. For instance, it can identify food items and provide calorie details. Siri mode also facilitates capturing event flyers to add dates to the Calendar app, translating text, splitting bills, and more. Additionally, users can search Google Images or ask specific questions, such as cooking instructions for food in view. The camera interface has been refined, with quick access tools for flash, Live Photo, and Night mode now positioned at the top-center, and the complete toolset moved to the bottom-right of the UI. Although there have been speculations about a customizable widget section, it has not yet been implemented. The iOS 27 beta is currently exclusive to developers, with a public beta anticipated next month and a general release expected in September alongside the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro models.
