Samsung has rolled out an update to its Samsung Wallet app (version 6.6.97) for Galaxy smartphones, delivering a visual overhaul aligned with the One UI 8.5 design language and three new features—two of which target the Indian market.
Samsung Wallet adopts the One UI 8.5 design
The latest Samsung Wallet build adopts the same visual identity as One UI 8.5 (Android 16 QPR2), bringing the app’s look and feel into alignment with the system interface. This design harmonization aims to provide a more consistent user experience across the OS and the app; no core functional changes beyond the aesthetic update have been announced.
Three targeted additions, including India-specific updates
The update introduces three main features. First, users can now change their country setting within the app—a handy option for frequent travelers who need access to region-specific payment options. The other two additions are India-specific: support for biometric authentication for UPI transactions up to INR 5,000, and compatibility with the UPI Payment Interface API 2.0. Together, these enhancements strengthen localized payment capabilities for Indian users.
Phased rollout across One UI 8.5 and One UI 9.0 devices
Samsung appears to be deploying version 6.6.97 in phases worldwide, targeting devices running One UI 8.5 and One UI 9.0 (Android 17). The staged rollout means some users will receive the update immediately, while others will get it over the coming days.
