Decade, an AI-native wealth advisory company, announced it is emerging from stealth with an $85 million seed round backed by Greenoaks, Benchmark and Diffusion — the largest seed funding ever raised for a Latin American startup.
Co-founded by former Nubank CTO Vitor Olivier and Hyperplane founder Felipe Meneses, Decade pairs each client with a senior human advisor and a proprietary AI model that tracks their full financial context, monitoring spending and portfolios around the clock. The company says it aims to bring wealth-management intelligence once reserved for the ultra-rich to a broader population in Brazil.
“A decade ago, Brazilians paid some of the highest banking fees in the world,” said Neil Mehta, founder of Greenoaks. “Nubank changed that for tens of millions of people, but investing never got its turn. Now it will.”
Decade’s founders bring deep regional and AI experience. Vitor Olivier joined Nubank as one of its earliest engineers and rose to Chief Technology Officer as the company grew into the world’s largest digital bank, serving more than 100 million customers across Latin America. Felipe Meneses, the first Brazilian selected for the Thiel Fellowship, founded Hyperplane, an AI company focused on financial institutions that Nubank later acquired; he leads Decade’s AI efforts.
Decade’s AI-human advisory model
Decade pairs each client with a senior human advisor and a proprietary AI model that “knows their full financial context and remembers every conversation,” enabling advisors to analyze and model market data at a scale beyond what any human could do alone. According to the company, the advisor provides the model with judgment and a relationship no other model has, while the AI continuously reads statements, monitors positions and reasons across a client’s entire balance sheet so decisions can be made in the moment and compound for decades.
“Managing your own money is a second job,” said Vitor Olivier. “Perform it well, and you can achieve your dreams, build a family, take care of yourself and those around you. Perform it poorly and you’ll be indebted and anxious, one disease away from bankruptcy; structurally unable to retire. Too many people are in the business of making you perform your second job poorly.”
Felipe Meneses added: “Even a year ago, it would have been impossible to build what we’re building. Financial services are complex by design and often monetized through asymmetry of information. AI collapses that asymmetry. Decade is AI-native from day one: agents that read every statement, monitor every position, and reason across your entire balance sheet, continuously. That level of attention used to be reserved for the ultra-rich. Now we can create an entire generation of millionaires.”
The company is focusing on Brazil, where only about a third of people hold any financial investment and just 7% can live off their own savings after retirement. The press release also highlighted Brazil’s financial infrastructure innovations — Pix and Open Finance — as widespread developments that have increased access to financial data and payments even as effective wealth management remains limited for many.
