Galaxy S27 camera overhaul surfaces in leaked case renders

A leaked set of protective-case images from leaker Ice Universe suggests dramatic camera changes for the Galaxy S27 series, with four distinct designs indicating a quartet of models rather than the current trio. The render shows two smaller cases that match the base S27 and S27+ and two larger cases with a new, raised camera housing for the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra.

The base Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ appear to retain the same overall design language as the 2026 models, according to the render. By contrast, the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra adopt a brand-new camera housing reminiscent of Apple’s “camera plateau.” It is unclear whether that raised plateau will accommodate additional hardware, as Apple does on its latest iPhones, or if it is primarily an aesthetic change; the camera island might even be affixed rather than integrated.

Galaxy S27 camera differences and zoom capabilities

Although the Pro and Ultra share a similar external camera look in the render, recent reports indicate they may not offer the same optical zoom. A 5x optical zoom could be reserved for the Ultra, potentially leaving the Pro without the Ultra’s long-range capability. That lack of powerful optical zoom may be one compromise for the Pro model, and other differences between Pro and Ultra could follow, but details remain unconfirmed.

Nothing is finalized at this stage: the leak aligns with other recent design reports, but Samsung has not confirmed any changes. With September beginning and the next Galaxy Unpacked still months away, the situation could evolve before an official announcement. If Samsung follows its usual schedule, the Galaxy S27 series would likely be unveiled in January or February 2027.
