Apple is set to unveil its first foldable iPhone on Wednesday, September 9, at the company’s “Surprise and Shine” event beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, and a last-minute leak from Mark Gurman reveals the device will be called the iPhone Duo with a 256GB base storage and a $2,000 entry price for that model.

Gurman’s report corroborates an earlier March rumor that the foldable’s base storage will be 256GB. That March rumor also suggested 512GB and 1TB options would be offered; Gurman does not mention those higher capacities, though they were previously reported and would likely define higher price tiers. TrendForce estimates and other reports had suggested a starting price above $2,000; Gurman’s leak specifies the 256GB model will start at $2,000, while the highest-capacity model is said to be around $3,000.
Colors, release timing and relation to iPhone 18 Pro
Previous rumors indicated Apple would avoid bright colors for its first foldable, favoring a darker shade described as indigo rather than black. Gurman’s details align with that, saying the iPhone Duo will come in white and dark blue. He also says the iPhone Duo will “go on sale as early as October,” suggesting it will be available to buy later than the iPhone 18 Pro models, which are also expected to be unveiled at the same event.
