Apple TV 4K support note and what it means
The inclusion of “or later” after Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) is notable because the 3rd generation is the current model; the phrasing could signal an upcoming new model, although Apple might also be future‑proofing the document or simply made an error. Last week, separate evidence surfaced pointing to a potential Apple TV 4K (4th generation).
Analysts and rumors expect a new Apple TV to be announced this October. Reported specifications circulating include an A19 or A19 Pro chip, a jump to 8GB–12GB of RAM, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI support, an Apple‑designed N1 chip with Wi‑Fi 7 support, and a revised Siri Remote. An image obtained last week of the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) did not reveal any design changes compared to the current model.
The current Apple TV 4K was announced in October 2022 and is equipped with an A15 Bionic chip and 4GB of RAM. In June, Apple raised the device’s U.S. starting price to $199 from $129 amid surging memory chip costs.
