Apple’s LG home accessories could gain a Proximity Control feature that shows a shortcut when an iPhone is tapped against or brought close to an accessory. The feature would surface quick actions directly on the device when proximity is detected.
Proximity Control behavior on iPhone and iPad
The Dynamic Island would display an “Open Controls” button for thermostats, providing a direct shortcut to control temperature settings. For cameras and doorbells, the Dynamic Island would instead present a camera viewer, allowing immediate access to live video.
On iPads and iPhones without a Dynamic Island, the same interaction would appear as a notification that remains active for 30 seconds, offering equivalent quick access without relying on the Dynamic Island interface.
