iOS 27.2 is the next major iPhone update and is already in its third developer beta. The betas so far add ten features headed by a redesigned Health app, Siri AI in five additional languages, and Apple TV profiles on iPhone.
iOS 27.2: Redesigned Health app and expanded Siri AI
The Health app shown at Apple’s September iPhone event is included in the iOS 27.2 beta. The redesign is organized into three tabs — Insights, Longevity and Browse — and introduces a Health Age feature that compares a user’s fitness age with their actual age. Apple’s notes warn that personalized summaries in Insights may not generate as expected. Lab results are available under Browse, then Lab Results, and Apple opened the first public beta of the redesigned Health app to regular testers on September 23.
Siri AI, which launched in English with iOS 27, gains five more languages in iOS 27.2: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Apple said all five will reach the public in October. The feature runs on iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices and still requires a waitlist signup on some iPhones.
Core app and communication improvements
Apple TV gains user profiles on iPhone for the first time. Group FaceTime receives Dual Capture, allowing simultaneous front- and rear-camera use in group calls; Dual Capture previously debuted for one-on-one calls in iOS 27. Call Context now surfaces birthday and anniversary reminders while you are on a call. Apple Podcasts renames the Up Next section to New Episodes, placing a Continue Playing section directly below it. CarPlay Ultra adds new theme options.
Regional and platform-specific changes
iOS 27.2 includes a new App Tracking Transparency prompt for users in the European Union, with yearly re-prompting; Apple’s notes say the alternative prompt is required for users in France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Romania. Apple Music gains album release countdown timers to track upcoming releases. The Home app adds support for a Schneider Electric thermostat and sensor.
Unannounced features spotted in betas
Developers examining iOS 27.2 beta 3 found an updated Apple Music logo and code for more granular “Suggested Actions” controls in Messages. Earlier betas also hinted at a “Restrict Motion Data” setting for iPhone users in mainland China and an iPhone anti-snatching feature that remains in development. Apple has not announced these items, so they are not guaranteed to appear in the public build.
Beta timeline and release expectations
Apple began the iOS 27.2 beta cycle on September 16, two days after iOS 27 reached the public, and skipped iOS 27.1 betas. The third developer beta arrived on October 5 and the second public beta followed on October 6. Apple has not announced a public release date for iOS 27.2; the iPhone Duo goes on sale October 23 with iOS 27.1, and iOS 27.2 is expected to follow soon after.
