Duo Preview on iPhone Duo Lets Subjects See a Live Mirror

Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo includes a feature called Duo Preview that shows a live preview of the main camera on the outer display, so the person you’re photographing or filming can see and adjust their pose before you take the shot. Duo Preview works for both photos and videos.

The outer display mirrors what the main camera captures, so the preview reads more like looking in a mirror than a traditional viewfinder. The outer display shows only the preview — there are no camera controls on that side to obstruct the view.

Duo Preview: How to use

Unfold your iPhone Duo so you’re looking at the inner display and open the Camera app. Tap the Outer Display Options button (it looks like a column view icon) in the top-left corner, then tap Duo Preview. Point the rear cameras at your subject and they’ll see a mirrored live preview of the frame on the outer display, allowing them to adjust before you shoot.

Tap the shutter button to take a photo or Record to shoot video. You can also press either volume button or click the Camera Control to capture.

Duo Preview is one of several Camera features that take advantage of the Duo’s foldable design, alongside Kid Cue and Smart Take. See the full guide to learn what the iPhone Duo’s camera can and can’t do for the rest.
