The district administration of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh has imposed strict prohibitory orders, banning all gatherings, processions, and protests near a disputed mausoleum. This decision follows intelligence reports of a planned mobilization coinciding with Janmashtami festivities on August 16. The move aims to prevent any escalation after an incident on August 11, where right-wing groups damaged graves and claimed the site as a Hindu temple. The area is under constant surveillance, with restricted entry allowed only for security personnel. Vandalized areas have been repaired, and 160 individuals have been booked for their involvement in the violence. Additional police forces have been deployed, and a flag march was conducted to reassure residents. District officials have warned that any demonstrations or provocative actions will face strict legal consequences. Heavy police presence, including Quick Response Teams and advanced surveillance, will ensure security until after Janmashtami. Residents are urged to maintain communal harmony and address grievances through legal means.
