How is SugaROx accelerating its biostimulant research with new investment?

SugaROx, a pioneering UK company in precision biostimulants, has secured a £1 million investment to advance its research and field testing. The Mosaic Company, a major player in the fertilizer industry, contributed £400,000 to this funding, while the remaining £600,000 came from existing investors, including Future Planet Capital and Regenerate Ventures. This investment follows a £2.4 million grant from Innovate UK, aimed at scaling up the production of SugaROx’s innovative biostimulant, Trehalose-6-Phosphate (T6P). T6P enhances crop yields by inhibiting an enzyme linked to energy scarcity in plants. With successful safety tests completed in early 2024, SugaROx plans to launch its T6P wheat biostimulant in the UK by 2027 and in the EU by 2028. The company is also conducting trials in soybean and maize, targeting the US and Brazilian markets. CEO Mark Robbins highlighted the accelerated manufacturing timeline, enabled by the new funding, while CTO Dr. Cara Griffiths emphasized the strategic benefits of Mosaic’s involvement, including access to trial sites and digital tools for research validation.
