How did startups in Africa and the Middle East fare in funding this week?

This week, the startup scene in Africa and the Middle East showcased a diverse array of innovations, with significant venture funding activities. TERN Group, based in Dubai, led the charge with a $24 million Series A to enhance its AI-powered global talent mobility platform for healthcare professionals. In Tel Aviv, Hush Security raised $11 million in seed funding to develop a policy-based access platform for machine-to-machine connections, addressing key enterprise security challenges.

Kenya’s SunCulture secured $5 million to expand its solar-powered irrigation systems for smallholder farmers, marking the first investment from WaterEquity’s new Water & Climate Resilience Fund. Saudi Arabia’s Orbii attracted $3.6 million in seed funding to build embedded credit infrastructure, with support from several investors including Prosus Ventures.

South African fintech Float raised $2.6 million to enable users to convert credit-card limits into interest-free instalments, preparing for international expansion. In Saudi Arabia, Fitting closed a $500,000 pre-seed round to scale its construction-tech solutions. Two Saudi healthtech startups, 21Doctors and DawaDose, also received pre-seed funding to grow their AI healthcare platforms.

Morocco’s Jobzyn, an AI-driven hiring startup, raised an undisclosed pre-seed round to expand across Africa, the Middle East, and North Africa. These investments reflect a focus on solving pressing local and global issues, from healthcare to fintech and climate-tech to cybersecurity.
