Trend Micro’s recent research highlights a growing trend of AI integration in cybersecurity strategies, yet it also underscores rising concerns about increased cyber risk exposure. While businesses are leveraging AI to enhance their defenses by speeding up anomaly detection and automating tasks, there’s an acknowledgment that attackers are equally keen to exploit AI, leading to a dynamic threat landscape. The study shows that 81% of global companies already employ AI-driven tools in their cybersecurity efforts, with an additional 16% exploring its implementation. Despite the optimism surrounding AI’s potential, a staggering 94% of businesses anticipate that AI will heighten their cyber risk exposure in the coming years. This concern is fueled by expectations of more sophisticated AI-driven attacks, data exposure risks, and compliance challenges. The recent Pwn2Own event in Berlin, which introduced an AI category, revealed vulnerabilities in major AI frameworks, emphasizing the need for robust security measures. As AI becomes more integrated into IT environments, security leaders are urged to evaluate risks and implement comprehensive security protocols throughout AI adoption.
