Over 300 experts from 79 institutions across the nation gathered at UNIST for the inaugural “Research Equipment Experts Day for Scientific and Technological Innovation.” The event, held on November 13 and 14, aimed to enhance the capabilities of research equipment professionals and foster a collaborative network among institutions. High-profile attendees, including Dochang Kim from the Ministry of Science and ICT and Sungnyeon Kim from the National Research Facilities & Equipment Center, emphasized the crucial role of equipment specialists in advancing science and technology. The event featured nine specialized sessions on topics such as semiconductor fabs, bio-convergence technology, and AI infrastructure, facilitating in-depth exchanges on cutting-edge technology trends. UNIST President Park Jongrae highlighted the importance of expertise over equipment performance, underscoring the university’s commitment to training specialized personnel. The event concluded with a tour of UNIST’s research facilities, leaving participants impressed with the institution’s equipment operation systems. Moving forward, UNIST plans to introduce a training program and certification system to further develop research equipment specialists.
