A humanoid robot from the Chinese company Shenzhen Dobot has demonstrated its advanced capabilities by cooking a steak while being remotely controlled from 1,800km away using virtual reality (VR). This technological feat was achieved by the Dobot Atom, the company’s first humanoid robot, launched in March. The robot, located in Shandong province, was operated from Guangdong province, showcasing the potential for VR-controlled robotics to transform various fields, from household chores to surgeries and even space exploration. In a video, the robot adeptly handled tasks such as dabbing the steak with a paper towel, pouring oil, flipping the meat, and sprinkling salt, all by replicating the engineer’s movements captured through a VR headset.
