Over 90 state and local governments have been affected by a newly discovered vulnerability in Microsoft server software. The Center for Internet Security, which coordinates cybersecurity efforts among government entities, highlighted the extensive targeting of official systems. Despite the breadth of the attack, no confirmed breaches have been reported, according to Randy Rose, the center’s vice president. The vulnerability has raised significant security concerns, with reports suggesting nearly 400 organizations worldwide, including key U.S. federal bodies, have been impacted. Fermilab, a notable U.S. Department of Energy lab, reported an attempted breach that was quickly contained, preventing any access to critical data.
