On Thursday, AI startup Cursor revealed it has secured $2.3 billion in a funding round, achieving a post-money valuation of $29.3 billion, nearly three times its valuation from June. Cursor, known for its AI coding tool that aids developers in generating, editing, and reviewing code, originated from the applied research lab Anysphere, established in 2022. It joins a select group of AI startups, including OpenAI and Anthropic, with valuations exceeding $10 billion. The latest funding round saw participation from major investors such as Accel, Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, DST Global, Coatue, Nvidia, and Google. Cursor plans to use the funds to enhance its research and develop new features. Since its 2023 launch, the tool has reached $1 billion in annualized revenue and expanded its workforce to over 300 employees.
