Freya, a startup originating from the Czech Republic, has successfully secured $3.5 million in a seed funding round aimed at enhancing its innovative voice AI technology designed for automating business calls. Founded in 2024 by Tunga Bayrak from Turkey and Tomáš Nepala from the Czech Republic, Freya operates in both San Francisco and Europe. The company specializes in creating secure, humanlike voice AI agents that facilitate complex business phone interactions, particularly in sectors like banking, fintech, and insurance. Their platform allows for the design, testing, and deployment of AI agents for both incoming and outgoing calls, offering solutions that are compatible with cloud and on-premise systems to boost operational efficiency while ensuring compliance and data security. The recent funding round saw contributions from notable investors including Y Combinator, Rebel Fund, Istanbul-based 212 VC, N1 Tech, Czech venture capital firm BD Partners, and several angel investors. The round was quickly oversubscribed and concluded shortly after Y Combinator’s Demo Day. Y Combinator, known for backing successful companies like Airbnb and Dropbox, continues to expand its portfolio, now valued at over $800 billion.
