How Are Orange Liberia and ZTE Transforming Rural Connectivity in Liberia?

Orange Liberia, in collaboration with ZTE, has embarked on a mission to enhance connectivity in Liberia’s rural areas through ZTE’s innovative Rural EcoSite technology. With the deployment of 128 eco-friendly communication sites, network coverage for underserved communities has been significantly improved. These sites incorporate sustainable energy solutions, which not only reduce the carbon footprint but also provide high-quality telecommunication services. This project aligns with a growing trend in Africa where telecom operators partner with technology providers to expand connectivity access in rural regions. Such initiatives are crucial for bridging the digital divide and fostering economic and social development in remote areas. Despite an increase in the number of internet users, the International Telecommunication Union reports that the digital divide remains pronounced, especially in rural areas, highlighting the importance of projects like that of Orange Liberia and ZTE in achieving universal connectivity.
