Montréal-based startup LocusX has secured $3 million in funding to enhance its AI-driven debugging software for game developers. Founded by gaming enthusiasts and backed by Diagram Ventures and Triptyq Capital, LocusX aims to streamline the debugging process with its “issue resolution engine.” This tool identifies and suggests fixes for programming bugs, helping developers focus on producing higher-quality games. While the platform uses AI to pinpoint issues, it leaves the final decisions to developers. The funding will be used to refine the product and expand the team. LocusX’s leadership includes CEO Francois Pelland, with a background at Ubisoft and Google, and CTO Yan Côté, known for his work on the Vrvana headset. The startup plans to extend its technology beyond gaming, targeting augmented and virtual reality sectors. Amid challenges like studio closures and tax credit changes in Canada, LocusX aims to support developers across the industry.
