Sustainability emerged as a central theme, reflecting the broader shift in the electronics sector towards reducing environmental impact. Exhibitors presented innovations aimed at minimizing waste and promoting responsible manufacturing processes across Europe. The focus on greener electronics is now integral to product development and manufacturing management.
Industry experts highlighted significant market challenges. Dieter Weiss and Christoph Solka discussed the European EMS industry’s sharp decline in 2024, with a 14% drop in production value — the steepest in two decades. This downturn extended globally, with an 8.5% decline in EMS companies worldwide. The “bull-whip-effect” following the chip crisis led to a surge in orders, now followed by a contraction persisting into 2025. Germany, in particular, faced a 17.8% reduction, further aggravated by government policies. About 7% of smaller EMS companies have gone out of business.
Despite these challenges, Weiss identified growth opportunities in certain market segments, offering insights for navigating this uncertain landscape. Dirk Stans from Eurocircuits emphasized the fragmentation in Europe’s electronics manufacturing and called for enhanced collaboration among stakeholders. He advocated for targeted investments, a centralized EU raw materials database, and streamlined standards to boost competitiveness and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
Evertiq Expo Berlin 2025 served as both a reality check and a beacon of hope for Europe’s electronics industry. As the sector evolves, Evertiq invites continued dialogue at upcoming expos. The next Berlin event will move to the TEC Event Campus in Siemensstadt on June 18, 2026. Meanwhile, Evertiq will host expos in Gothenburg, Sweden, on September 4, 2025, and in Warsaw on October 23, 2025.
