Is Andreessen Horowitz investing $2 million in Israeli AI startup ARGU?

An emerging Israeli startup, ARGU, has secured $2 million in pre-Seed funding from the influential Silicon Valley venture firm Andreessen Horowitz, through its Speedrun accelerator. Established in 2024 by brothers Ido Deutsch and Shani Daniel, along with Lior Strugach, a former member of an elite IDF technology unit, ARGU has introduced an innovative Vision AI system. This technology enables users to analyze live video feeds using natural language without the need for model training, transforming surveillance and operational camera networks into interactive intelligence systems with its “Vision Agents.”

ARGU’s technology is already operational on four continents, providing services to governments, intelligence agencies, and critical infrastructure operators. The system is particularly impactful in sectors such as homeland security, civilian safety, and enterprise analytics, where real-time video understanding can significantly enhance event detection, response, and prevention.

CEO Ido Deutsch highlighted the company’s mission to address a gap in real-time video analysis that existing advanced AI models have not yet filled. By integrating AI agents into enterprise cameras, ARGU offers organizations a comprehensive solution to enhance security, safety, and operational efficiency.

The startup’s inclusion in the highly selective Speedrun accelerator by Andreessen Horowitz signifies a major endorsement, with the venture firm also expressing interest in participating in future funding rounds. Additional investors in this funding round include the Port of Miami, Mekorot, Israel’s national water company, and several private investors.

Despite plans to expand in the U.S., ARGU remains committed to maintaining its core development in Israel, driven by a strong sense of patriotism. The founders, who have a successful track record from a previous video analytics venture sold in 2020, have leveraged their experience to gain Andreessen Horowitz’s support.
