Morocco has embarked on a significant journey by hosting its inaugural National Artificial Intelligence Conference on July 1st and 2nd, 2025, at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat. Under the esteemed patronage of King Mohammed VI, this event marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s digital evolution, aiming to harness AI as a catalyst for sustainable growth, digital independence, and national modernization.
This unprecedented gathering unites a diverse array of participants, including governmental representatives, private sector leaders, investment entities, Moroccan startups, and international experts. The conference embodies a collective ambition to forge a sovereign and ethical AI strategy tailored to Morocco’s unique needs.
Centered around the theme “An Efficient and Ethical AI Strategy Serving Our Society,” the event emphasizes the integration of AI with a focus on ethics, technological independence, and social inclusion. Minister Delegate for Digital Transition, Amal El Fallah-Seghrouchni, highlighted AI’s current role across various sectors such as health and education, underscoring the need for mastery and regulation.
Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch reiterated the nation’s commitment to embedding AI within public policies, advocating for a strategy that is efficient, ethical, and inclusive, ultimately fostering sustainable human development.
The conference addresses 13 key sectors poised for AI-driven transformation, including administrative reform, education, healthcare, smart agriculture, Industry 4.0, and more. This comprehensive approach reflects Morocco’s intent to weave AI into the fabric of its economic and social framework.
The two-day program features technical sessions and AI startup showcases, followed by discussions on political and ethical considerations, culminating in the presentation of strategic recommendations and international partnerships.
Morocco aspires to establish a robust regulatory framework for AI, collaborating with entities such as the CNDP and DGSN to ensure transparency, fairness, and non-discrimination. AI is viewed not only as a technological tool but as a geopolitical asset and a symbol of sovereignty.
