Samsung’s latest One UI 8 Watch, based on Wear OS 6, offers numerous visual and functional enhancements for Galaxy Watches. However, users have reported several bugs, with a potential fix expected by January 12, 2025. A significant issue has emerged where watch faces fail to transition smoothly from always-on display (AOD) mode to active mode. This problem, affecting models like Galaxy Watch 8, 7, 6, 5, and 4, results in ghosting and visual artifacts as elements from the AOD mode linger in active mode. The issue appears to be linked to third-party watch faces and is believed to be a system-level bug. Wear OS 6’s new opacity fade feature for AOD transitions may be the culprit; if the animation doesn’t complete before the screen powers down, it causes the rendering engine to display both modes simultaneously.
