Will Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Feature the In-House Exynos 2600 Chip?

Samsung Electronics plans to integrate its in-house Exynos 2600 application processor into several variants of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, showcasing confidence in its foundry capabilities. Historically, Samsung has alternated between its Exynos chips and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors for the Galaxy S series. However, the S23 and S25 series exclusively used Snapdragon chips due to issues with Exynos production. The Exynos 2500’s challenges significantly impacted Samsung’s semiconductor division’s profitability. Recently, the company announced a renewed focus on enhancing the Exynos lineup to reintroduce it in flagship smartphones by 2026. Although the exact distribution of the Exynos 2600 within the S26 lineup is unclear, it is anticipated to be available in models sold in Korea and Europe. The comeback of Exynos in the Galaxy S series is attributed to advancements in both chipset performance and foundry yield rates. The Exynos 2600, constructed on Samsung’s 2-nanometer process, promises improved energy efficiency and has reportedly reached 85 percent of its intended performance. Uncertainty remains whether the Exynos 2600 will power the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra, as previous top-tier models have consistently utilized Qualcomm chips.
