Will the iPhone 17 Pro Feature a Scratch Resistant Anti-Reflective Display?

Apple is reportedly overcoming previous challenges with the production of a scratch resistant anti-reflective display layer intended for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. This development suggests these models may indeed feature the enhanced display technology, while the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will not receive this upgrade. Initially rumored in 2024, this display layer is said to offer superior scratch resistance compared to the existing Ceramic Shield, promising increased durability. Earlier production issues had cast doubt on its implementation, but recent improvements in the coating process have revived its prospects. While current iPhones feature a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and Ceramic Shield, they lack the anti-reflective focus found in iPad and Mac displays. With competitors like Samsung incorporating advanced anti-reflective technologies in their devices, Apple seems poised to enhance its display offerings to remain competitive.
