Conceptual designer Abdi envisions a future iteration of Microsoft’s Windows operating system that could address current user hesitancies to upgrade to Windows 11. Despite Windows 10 nearing its end-of-life in October 2025, some users remain reluctant to switch to Windows 11 due to design flaws and high system requirements. Alternatives like Tiny11, which creates a lightweight version of Windows 11 for older PCs, are emerging to alleviate these concerns.
Abdi’s latest concept, dubbed “Brilliant Windows 12,” introduces innovative features such as “Collectzone” for organizing wallpapers, merging the Control Panel with settings for improved user experience, and quick interactive settings for dark mode and screenshots. The concept also highlights advanced search capabilities through Copilot AI and offers enhanced customization options for widget placement.
While Microsoft’s plans for a Windows 11 successor remain unclear, the company suggests a future OS that delivers an ambient, AI-driven experience. As Windows 10’s end approaches, Microsoft’s push for upgrades to Windows 11 faces resistance, with third-party solutions posing a threat to its ecosystem. Despite offering Extended Security Updates for Windows 10, concerns about planned obsolescence and the impact on millions of users persist.
