Is Samsung struggling with its identity?

Samsung has reportedly canceled its Galaxy S26 Edge model due to low sales of its predecessor, opting to release the Galaxy S26 Plus instead. This decision highlights a deeper issue within the company, which seems to be losing its unique identity by attempting to mimic Apple’s innovations. In recent years, Samsung has released products that closely resemble Apple’s offerings, such as the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Buds 3, which mirror the Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods, respectively. While Samsung has a history of groundbreaking innovations, like popularizing foldable phones and large smartphone displays, its current strategy appears reactionary. To regain its standing as a leader in innovation, Samsung must rediscover its distinct identity and move beyond merely imitating competitors.
