Samsung has introduced its inaugural XR headset, the Galaxy XR, initially available only in South Korea and the United States. This device marks the debut of Android XR, a collaborative platform developed by Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm. It’s equipped with the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. The headset boasts 4.3K Micro-OLED displays, full-color passthrough, Dolby Atmos spatial audio, and supports both augmented and virtual reality modes. Additionally, it features Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, capable of assisting with tasks, object identification, and 3D content creation. By 2026, Samsung plans to extend availability to Germany, France, Canada, and the UK, with potential for further expansion as production scales and more XR applications emerge.
