Why do ‘little giants’ excel in Jiangsu’s manufacturing sector?

Yadea, a leading global brand in electric two-wheelers for eight years, operates a highly efficient plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, capable of producing 1,300 electric bicycles and scooters daily. This showcases China’s manufacturing capabilities. As of last year, Yadea, listed in Hong Kong, had sold over 100 million electric two-wheelers across more than 100 countries, highlighting how Chinese manufacturers are using automation to enhance production speed and efficiency, allowing them to compete globally with high-quality, affordable products. A government-sponsored tour in August highlighted Jiangsu’s advancements in manufacturing, robotics, healthcare, AI, and new energy, underscoring the province’s technological progress. Jiangsu, home to 85 million people and with a per capita GDP of $22,500 last year, remains a manufacturing powerhouse despite not producing tech giants like Huawei or Alibaba. As China’s innovation drive faces new challenges, Jiangsu’s advanced manufacturers are gaining increased attention.
