Is Apple’s Foldable iPhone Set to Feature a Breakthrough Camera?

Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone may introduce a groundbreaking 24-megapixel under-screen camera within its inner display. This would mark a significant advancement, as current Android devices with similar technology typically offer only 4 or 8 megapixels due to quality challenges. The potential use of a 24-megapixel sensor with six plastic lens elements could enhance light transmittance and image quality significantly. However, to achieve a sleek design reminiscent of “two titanium iPhone Airs side-by-side,” Apple might forgo LiDAR and optical image stabilization. The foldable device is expected to include four cameras: a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, an under-display camera, and two 48-megapixel rear cameras. The outer display will feature a punch-hole camera, and Touch ID will replace Face ID for authentication. While a fall 2026 launch is anticipated, a delay to 2027 remains possible as design elements are refined.
